Their number is only known to Him who created them (Allah), and through his informing, His Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) knows. Four Angels are most famous: Hazrat Jibraeel, Mikaeel, Israfeel and Izraeel (alaihimus salaam). They are superior over all the other Angels.
